Kinza Kirkman

Hi, I’m Kinza Kirkman, an artist based in Wilmington, North Carolina. My creative journey has been shaped by my connection to this beautiful state, my academic experiences, and the rich cultural influences that surround me.

I grew up in North Carolina and pursued my passion for art at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) and the American University of Rome. These studies not only refined my technical skills but also opened my eyes to a world of rich art history and inspired a deep need to create with the wisdom of the masters who came before me.

Daily life and my travels are my primary sources of inspiration. Whether it's the rhythms of everyday moments or the vibrant cultures I encounter on my journeys, these experiences find their way into my work. My Colombian heritage, through my family, adds another layer of depth and color to my art, infusing it with a sense of connection to a culture beyond.

I’m married to Robert, and together we’re raising three wonderful boys. My family plays a significant role in my creative process. The themes of family life and domestic moments often weave themselves into my artwork, reflecting the love and experiences that define my world.

Through my art, I aim to capture the beauty in ordinary, domestic moments as well as the beauty in extraordinary moments while exploring worlds and cultures previously unknown. I hope my work invites others to look at the world around them with a new appreciation and thankfulness.
